About the course
The Emergency First Responder (EFR) course at Lak Scuba teaches you CPR and first aid, skills that matter in an emergency at home, at work or underwater.
The course is for divers and non-divers, is recognized internationally, and gives you the knowledge and confidence to respond in a medical emergency. It fulfills the CPR and first aid training requirements for the PADI Rescue Diver course and all PADI professional-level certifications.
Take it if you are going on to Rescue Diver, or if you simply want to be ready to help someone.

What you’ll learn
Through practice scenarios, you’ll learn to:
- Conduct Primary Care (CPR) techniques for adults
- Deliver Secondary Care (First Aid) for minor injuries and illnesses
- Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), a recommended skill
- Manage bleeding, choking, and spinal injuries
- Care for shock victims and assess emergency scenes
- Communicate effectively with emergency medical services (EMS)
- Apply bandages, splints, and illness assessments
- Respond to adult, child, and infant emergencies (the Care for Children add-on)

Practice equipment (CPR mannequins, AED trainers, bandaging tools)
EFR recommends a refresher every two years. Rescue Diver and the PADI professional courses need EFR training within the past 24 months.
