During the course, you will learn about the different types of DSMBs and how to use them properly. You will also learn about the different signals that can be used with a DSMB, as well as how to deploy and retrieve the DSMB from the water.
After completing the course, you will be able to safely and confidently use a DSMB while diving, and you will be able to signal to your dive buddy and the surface support team if you need to ascend to the surface.

Marker buoys serve a range of purposes and you’ll learn about common types of DSMB along with the reels used to control them. During the two training dives, you’ll practice:

Preparing and stowing your DSMB and reel.
Deploying the DSMB from a stationary position and from mid-water.
Swimming while towing a DSMB and managing the reel and line.
Making a safety stop using the DSMB line.


You need to be a PADI Open Water Diver who is at least 12 years old to enrol in the DSMB Diver course.
